Montana Sapphire Necklace

August 27th, 2009 · 5 Comments

Necklace design by Artbeads.com customer Gretchen Coats

I recently made this necklace for the etsy-beadweavers August challenge, First Ladies of Style. I started with the drool-worthy 40X27mm fancy pear in montana sapphire, bezeled it in size 11 delicas and size 15 seed beads, and then wrapped 4mm crystals all the way around it. It looked a little lonely, so I added more montana sapphire rivolis (2 14mms, and 3 12mm on each side)and hundreds more 4mm crystals. Finished it off with some herringbone braids and a sparkly wheel for a toggle. Please visit www.etsy-beadweavers.blogspot.com to see more lovely creations. Thanks!

Sunflower Necklace

August 20th, 2009 · No Comments

Necklace designed by Artbeads.com customer Kat Aggers

I’m sending these photos of a recently commissioned necklace that I crafted out of Toho seed beads, Miyuki delicas, Swarovski crystals and rivoli. The necklace was requested as a daughter’s way to honor a beloved mother gone too soon, who loved sunflowers. When my client requested the piece I saw it fully realized in my mind. I rushed home and began ordering the items I knew I needed from Artbeads. I knew you folks would have my order to me in days, so I could order a few times as things were needed, especially running out of a specific color Toho seed bead, which happened as the design took off of it’s own accord flowing off the needle and into the thread and wire bound beauty you see here. My client requested sparkle and against my artistic nature I had to struggle to combine her request with my vision, so there were moments when the pattern refused to come together, not the sunflower itself, that was co-operative. The clasp, and the pattern of the crystals and beads were reworked into the wee hours of the morning, until exhausted, a compromise was reached and the beads settled into what you see now. I have ordered frequently for other projects, my own and commissioned, from Artbeads, and have recommended you to people who are just beginning to bead and even to those who I’ve known as beaders for years. I’ll continue to order from Artbeads, because even when a mix up happens the customer service is friendly, quick to understand and to resolve it right away, always with a laugh and a smile in their voice as we ruefully acknowledge human errors.

Thank you very much for being one of the best online jewelry suppliers around, and I’ve used a few prior to finding Artbeads.  Here’s beading with you, kids!

Hi Friends,
Here is a photo of one of my bracelets that I made.  It is made on a sterling silver chain with sterling silver head pins, charms, and clasp.  All the beads are fun and bright.  I love making jewelry and I love making pieces that make you feel good when you wear them.

Peace to all,

Swarovski 5301 4mm Faceted Bicone Crystal Red Magma

The perfect shade and sparkly, too!
Swarovski 5301 4mm Faceted Bicone Crystal Red Magma
I fell in love with the idea of this bead…who could go wrong with red and sparkly? In person it is even more beautiful! The bracelet I made is the perfect color to go with many of my outfits. I think my next project will be a necklace featuring red magma in 4mm bicones and some of the unique shapes swarovski has in the same color.

Sweet Magnolia Necklace – Customer Gallery of Designs

August 6th, 2009 · 8 Comments

Necklace Designed by Artbeads.com customer Lynda Moseley

Necklace Designed by Artbeads.com customer Lynda Moseley

The polymer clay pendant was created by me using an image transfer technique. I enhanced it with Red Mosaic Shell Beads and Red and faceted, Gold Czech Glass beads purchased at Artbeads, along with 5mm white button pearls and gold plated spacer beads.

This necklace was created for a friend of mine, a fellow polymer clay artist, for a “Pay It Forward” project in which we both participated. Everyone who participated was to forward a piece of their work to another artist, and that artist in turn forwarded a piece of his or her work to someone else.

The person who received this necklace lives in Mississippi. The magnolia is the state flower of Mississippi, and I thought it would be an appropriate surprise.

Thank you for the opportunity of showcasing my design in the Artbeads gallery.

Swarovski Concept Store

August 4th, 2009 · 1 Comment

 Swarovski Concept Store

On a recent trip to New York City I stopped in at the new Swarovski Concept Store located in the heart of SOHO.  In true Swarovski style everything in this store glittered and sparkled, whether it was the oversized crystal flowers in the showcases to the full wall of Swarovski Crystals that occupied the majority of the ground floor of store.  Of course if you want to sit and relax amid all of the bling, there is a full café and lounge at the back where you can take a look at your purchases while sipping on an espresso and eating a slice of scrumptiously decadent dessert.  If you are more interested in the gallery aspect, walk down a floor where you can see many interesting exhibits from a flatbacked portrait of Daniel Swarovski, the founder of Swarovski, to the crystal embellished gown used in the film version of the Phantom of the Opera.  All in all this new Swarovski concept store, one of a very few world-wide is a worthwhile place to stop in the next time that you are in the Big Apple.
