Just started with beading last year with two-needle projects and am enjoying it a lot. Hope to continue to learn new beading techniques. Would like learn chain maille techniques this year since they have a totally different feel and can be more masculine.

I am currently working on woven jewelry. I have been practicing a couple techniques while incorporating my ever growing ‘bead stash’ items. I feel I am buying jewelry books left and right. The challenge is to take everything I am learning and come up with some original pieces.

I’ve promised myself to finally use some of my very most special beads and stones and not just to sit and admire them! I always have projects going but haven’t wanted to let these faves out of my possession–time to make way for the new–I need dragon strength to do it and 2012 is the time!

I have a short comic story that I’ve written that I’d like to draw. I’ve been finding during start up that there are things I have to think about that I’ve never thought of before, but I am up for the challenge.

    • January 24, 2012

I want to explore the different ways of using seed beads. I have made a bail for a donut using square stitch and that’s my first. Any new way of making jewelry actually is something on my list.

  9. Exploring the world of wire, wire mesh and wire wrapping should keep me busy! Don’t tell my hubby that I have beads & gems stashed away in our boat! A girl must keep busy so cobwebs don’t grow in the brain-cells, right? 😉

Happy Chinese New Year! a very important year for them to be celebrating the year of the Dragon. It’s their favoroite holiday celebration; even moreso with it being the year of the Dragon. This is a positive sign signifying strength, power, good fortune & luck. It is surmised that people who are born under this sign become powerful; rising to the top of their profession…I am very interested in learning about the Chinese customs, love to use tibetan silver charms in my hand made items, especially the chinese symbols for love, happiness & good fortune.

I am finally going to try soldering – I have a few findings that are too delicate for a typical open jump ring and I just keep looking at them and wishing I could do something with them.

    • January 24, 2012

I’m going to incorporate more soldering into my pieces, also try PMC and wax carving The dragon piece looks super cool, I wonder if I could do something like that with wax carving? 🙂

Going to work on making my own necklaces from different stringing materials instead of buying them pre-finished.

  10. Over the holidays, I saw some cast metal pendants created from impressions taken from people’s pets – I got some non-toxic molding compound and have created molds of my dogs’ noses :o) I would really like to experiment with polymer clay and PMC with these molds – maybe branching out to some pawprints? I guess that would have to be the small dogs! I’m also wondering about people with non-furry children…maybe someone might like a fingerprint of their child made into a pendant? The possibilities just keep growing.

  11. I just started beading last month. I’ve gone from basic stringing a single strand to working on peyote & netting stitch work with my jewelry. I’ve been making bracelets, necklaces, & earrings.
I’m hooked on beading & jewelry making!
I’ve decided to hold a booth at this spring’s flea market in my area & am hoping that I can turn this new found love into a full time career !

Being that I was born in the year of the Dragon & they are my favorite animal – I think winning this prize would be a huge sign for me that I’m on the right path & have finally found my true calling.

This year what I plan to explore is: turning my new found passion into a career, learning as many beading & jewelry making techniques as I possibly can 🙂 and creating original pieces that I can really be proud of.
The next item on my “to learn” list is the beaded, spiral, rope chain… I think they look so beautiful!
