It’s a 3-day earring weekend on the Artbeads Blog for Beaders! Artbeads co-owner and chief jewelry designer Cynthia loves to design—and this weekend we’ll showcase one new earring idea each day that you can try at home using some of our most beautiful components.
Today’s earring idea is another example of how cool the new Swarovski 1/2 matte rivoli stones look in jewelry. As soon as she saw them in person, Cynthia couldn’t wait to use them in her designs. Our pavé style drops added a nice sparkling accent, too—and it’s only fitting that she use purple components to represent Artbeads! Here are all of the components you’ll need:
- Two 11x22mm pavé style beads in your favorite color and shape
- Four Swarovski 18mm rivoli 1/2 matte sew-on stones in Crystal
- Two 925/10 silver-filled earwires with a 3mm ball and coil
- Four sterling silver heavy open jump rings (1. x 9.0mm)
- Two sterling silver head pins -2 inch, 22 gauge
We’ll give you the instructions on how to make one earring, and then you can repeat the steps to finish the pair!
1: Thread one teardrop bead onto a head pin and finish it with a wrapped loop technique.
2: Connect the wrapped loop to one jump ring (watch our Handy Tip video in the Learning Center to learn how to open and close a jump ring if you need help).
3: Place two sew-on stones back to back to make one doubled up stone. Then, attach the jump ring in step 2 to one of the sets of stringing holes.
4: Attach a second jump ring to the open set of stringing holes.
5: Connect a new jump ring to the jump ring from step 4.
6: Connect the new jump ring from step 5 to one earwire.
In just six simple steps you can make a dazzling earring! Mix up the colors to make a pair that matches your personal style.
We hope you enjoyed our 3-day earring weekend and remember, you can always find more FREE earring ideas in our Learning Center.
