My advice is to properly price your product. Your time is worth something, so don’t write it off!

Hmmm… You now have your product and are ready to begin marketing both your product and yourself. Pick your business colors and design just as carefully as your beads. Step One: Always carry your business cards and never go out without wearing a piece of your own design. It is surprising just how many people will comment on what your wearing and want to know where you got it. You now have their attention. Use this very basic step to put yourself out there and once you do, people will begin to remember who you really are and connect you with your jewellry. Once you get your product out there, whether it is at your local craft sales, online or in a local boutique. People will begin to remember you by name and by your designs. Good Luck & God Bless…

One of the things I’ve learned is that you should take pictures of your jewelry that you’ve sold so that you can go back & look at it when the customer calls or emails you for a matching bracelet or earrings, I have pictures of all that I’ve made, but there have been a few times when I’ve made a piece at a show & didn’t get a picture, so now I make sure I have a camera at all shows, take pictures of each piece & document who bought it!

I started and stopped due to family issues. However, I am starting up again. I love making jewelry and I wear what I make. I get compliments and orders. My advice to anyone is you are your greatest promoter. You are your best ad campaign. If you dont wear your jewelry invest in an amazing camera ( I have FujuFilm 35mm digital) or a camera phone and create a mobile portfolio. I had a conversation with a woman at my church one evening and showed her some photos. She asked me a week later to do the jewelry for her and her bridal party. I am on a supertight budget and self promoting works me and it can work for you, too!!! Stay Blessed

Put your heart into every piece. No matter how many you make they should all be so good you would be proud to give them to someone you love.

Get beads, chain, clasps, and other components in as many colors as possible, then pay attention to color! That being said, I don’t mean the “forecasts”. Just because neon pink or turquoise is “going” to be a hot color come summer or the experts think gunmetal or bronze hardware will be the “in” thing for spring doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true. Use colors and color combinations YOU like, especially with new creations and just let your customers know you’re willing to make an identical piece with any color of bead/findings you have.

I do a lot of custom jewelry, usually just taking a color. “LISTEN” to your customer and give them what they want–they will return and they will give you referrals.
