My favorite DIY from my wedding was our flowers, especially my bouquet. There was a local flower shop that helped us plan all of our flowers and ordered them for us, then we used their space to assemble everything 2 days before the wedding. My bridesmaids each made their own bouquets, I made mine, and we made about 20 boutonnieres and a half-dozen corasages, a huge altar vase, pew decorations and reception centerpieces… everything was gorgeous, if I do say so myself 😉 We recently got my bouquet back from our wedding coordinator (who had been drying it for, ohh, almost 4 years) and got a display case for it… such wonderful memories!!!!

When I got married the second time, I made my dress on which I spent 3 months embroidering and sewing seed beads on. I also made the programs which had covers made from homemade paper. I also made my invitations and their envelopes. At that time I wasn’t making jewelry so my youngest daughter who was 15 at the time made my necklace and earring for both me and the attendants. Now that daughter is making wedding plans. Would love to surprise her with some jewelry to wear.

I made bracelets in bright colors for each Bridesmaid, the maid of Honor, and the flower girls for my friend Heidi’s wedding. She wore the tradition white dress with non-tradition purple lace coming off of it. Being the free spirit she is, she had me make a different color bracelet for each of the flower girls and black crystal earrings for each in her wedding party. It made the day so much more individual and special.

My wedding was a long time ago, long before I started beading.

I am planning our vow renewal/ real wedding for our 5 year anniversary. I plan to do it all myself with a midsummers night theme. I saw this gorgeous lucite flower and seed bead necklace that I would love to use in my jewelry with bright summer colors (daisies, sunflowers, and such). I’d also like to take that into the bouquet and centerpiece decor.

A close friend of my sister gave her a beautiful pearl bracelet with gold highlights on her wedding.
