The filigree butterfly pendant was an instant inspiration for this elegant steampunk necklace.
To make the central piece, I used an antique brass butterfly filigree, attached it to a polymer clay background, combined with watch parts and hardware parts, and enhanced with clear resin. The necklace is created using antique brass chain, hardware, emerald Swarovski crystals, and antique brass jump-rings.

This necklace was designed as a “going- a-way” present for a Advisor to the Freshman Class at The University of Texas at San Antonio, so that she could remember her time there. The University’s school colors are blue and gold, and the mascot is a Roadrunner.
I used Cobalt blue and copper color Swarovski crystals, one of those fabulous hand made copper pendants, the Roadrunner, and a copper toggle clasp.
It was a perfect match for color and the desired theme! The University’s mascot is a Roadrunner called “Rowdy”.

Sweet and innocent and perfect for the Bride-To-Be. This piece is swimming in Swarovski and has amazing sparkle factor! Swarovski bicones in Rose Water AB, Rose Water, Moonlight, Crystal AB x2 and Crystal AB make up this piece with its coral fringe and Swarovski Crystal 18MM rivoli center. The neck is woven in Transparent Rainbow Crystal Hex Cut #8, Silver-lined #8 and Silver-lined #15 seed beads.Toho Opaque Lustered Pearl Crystal is used throughout. The clasp is a peyote loop and toggle, embellished with Silver-lined #15 and a Swarovski Rose Water bicone on each end. The fringe is in a graduated length and each fringe ‘finger’ is tipped with a Swarovski bicone and 3 #15 Silver-lined seed beads randomly woven throughout.
When the ‘Blogging For Beaders’ opportunity presented itself, I was inspired to do a remake of a piece I had made in my ‘early days’, Jack Frost, this time in pale pink and very bridal, since prime marital season is approaching. Jack Frost was done only in coral fringe all around and part way through ‘Fairytale Wedding’, I thought I would add a Swarovski 18MM Crystal rivoli I had in my stash to add to the ’sparkle factor’. The center is the ‘Crystal Burst’ from Laura McCabe, only I think she uses 3mm and 4mm bicones, mine were all 4mm.

This is a simple earring. I just took a silver circle chain, attached it to a sterling ear-hook. I then added individual 6mm Swarovski crystals to the top of each hoop. Thanks for the opportunity to add this!

The piece I created resulted from several different things. The biggest thing is that my sister, Cynthia Thornton, just released a book called Enchanted Adornments: Creating Mixed-Media Jewelry with Metal Clay, Wire, Resin & More from Interweave Press. To celebrate the release of the book, we became sponsors of the prize for Art Bead Scene’s November challenge. The prompt for this month is Richard Dadd’s The Fairy Fellers’ Master-Stroke. I just moved and unearthed a box from Artbeads.com during the unpacking process. To pass the time while unpacking, I’ve been listening to Susanna Clarke’s Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell on book on tape. As soon as I saw the Russian pendant, I was instantly inspired and the fairy theme came together. It took a couple of tries and some patience, but I finally figured out how to put the piece together seamlessly.

Just like in the background of the picture I wanted a lush green background to the necklace. To achieve this look, I braided three strands of the Green Spider Jasper Cubes. I attached the druk beads to the filigree to represent the unopened blooms peeking out from the leaves. With a blast of big bold color, the double strands lead you eye to that beautiful ripple pendant, just like the pedals lead your eye to the center of the flower. That is my inspiration and my bit of summer to take with me into winter.
Here are the ArtBeads products I used:
Donut Rust Ripple – Product Code: SBRB4
Green Spider Jasper Cubes – Product Code: 48760
Rainbow Carnelian Squares – Product Code: LTD-1447
Glass Druk Bead Topaz 8mm (25 Pack) – Product Code: DRUK-TOPA8
