Well wedding planning that is. Although the fruits of our labor won’t likely be revealed until the warmer months, brides-to-be are in a flurry of wedding preparation this month. More commonly known as the holiday season, the weeks between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve also host the bulk of marriage proposals each year. So after the whirlwind of holiday festivities and engagement parties, January is the month when many brides get down to business and find out what planning the happiest day of their lives is all about.
This year, I get to count myself among this group of planning brides-to-be! My fiancé proposed the weekend after Thanksgiving, smoothly catching me off-guard between my November birthday and Christmas. Soon after, during an Artbeads.com meeting, we were discussing our ideas for a January Wedding Month and it was suggested that I take over some of the blog posts for the month. I couldn’t believe I was actually being granted permission to allow my newfound obsession with weddings to spill over into work!
I’m habitually indecisive and tend to obsess over details so I do foresee my own planning as being a bit of an uphill (yet fun) journey; I literally woke up in the middle of the night after our engagement going back and forth about what I should put in my Facebook status. Luckily there are a lot of great resources out there that break down the details, and I do mean details, of the process. Included in my monthly checklist from one website, I was reminded to “take care of myself and get in better shape before the big day.” As if after last couple months of shameless holiday indulgence this was a needed reminder.
I’m hoping my wedding research will uncover some great tips and trends for 2011 brides and perhaps give all you jewelry designers out there some new inspiration for your upcoming designs. Over the next few weeks I’ll share what I find and also introduce some exciting new Learning Center Ideas that will spare your bridal budget and leave you looking fabulous!
