When the wind at your back feels like more than a whisper of air, and the leaves shutter at dusk as the beating sun retreats into the shadows, you may just come across a vampire out for a stroll. Vampires have held a place in our culture for many years and have altered their roles over time. Some are scary and some will show us the greatest love we’ve ever known. With anticipation of the release of the newest Twilight film, Breaking Dawn Part I, our latest contest urges you to fantasize about your favorite vampire date. Do you dream about being whisked away in the arms of Edward Cullen, or are you drawn to the dangerous bite of Lestat de Lioncourt? From books to theater characters, we want to know who you think is the best. Leave a comment below telling us who your dream date vampire would be. Then, click on the official contest link to be entered to for a chance to win a darkly-romantic goody bag, which includes a hand-painted Russian artist pendant. You’ll also get a sparkling red Swarovski crystal heart pendant, lovely lampwork beads and a copy of the beadweaving book Bead Romantique: Elegant Beadweaving Designs so you can create your own Victorian-style jewelry. How can it be anyone but Barnabas Collins from “Dark Shadows”? That cool, suave, sophisticated demeanor during the day (away from the light of course!), and the cunning hunter at night. Who could resist?

ADDICTED to True Blood, and Eric is the ultimate Vamp!! Ruthless and cold, but oh so sweet and sensitive! Not to mention Drop Dead, Blood Boiling GORGEOUS!!

I must say, there a lot of cute vampires. I would have to go with Grandpa Munster. He is doting, somtimes irritating and very lovable. He would be very charming and sweet. Al Lewis was a great actor.

Miriam Blaylock from “The Hunger”. It’s a spectacular novel, well written unlike most recent vampire books (not pointing any fingers)

I would choose Eric from the Soookie Stackhouse books, not the guy from True Blood, the books are truly much better & Eric is definitely the sexiest of them all!!!

My guy is Gerard Butler Drac 2000 who could resist those Dreamy eyes they just melt you.He gets better looking as he gets older and he just had another B-day wish I could have been ther to help him blow out his candles.

  1. Although I don’t know that I would ever go out with a vampire under any circumstances, but if I had to choose: I love Interview With the Vampire, so I am going to say Louis.

Edward gets my vote! Especially in the first movie/book.

PS — cute vampire book I read called “Jessica’s Guide to Dating on the Dark Side” — aimed at a teenage audience, but both my sister and I (well past our teen years) enjoyed it.

I don’t follow these things. My friend Mary does. She likes Alice because she is adorible and she can tell the future. What woman wouldn’t like to tell the future.

Vampires should not sparkle, Swarovski’s should sparkle. My vote goes to Vlad the Impaler.

My choice is Gary Oldman in Bram Stroker’s Dracula because a vampire is all about seducing with the eyes. He had the most tragic soulful eyes and you really felt his power and most of all his love for his Elisabeth.

    Harry Dresden’s brother Thomas!

    • November 14, 2011

Probably not well known, but I think my “favorite” is the demon/ vampire Erota from Eric Wilson’s book “Valley of Bones”. Beautiful, conniving, treacherous, and deadly evil to the core, she is what I think of when someone mentions the word “vampire”.

    • November 14, 2011

    Edward or Angel 🙂

  2. Barnabus, because that’s the only vampire whose name I can remember. (Except that I thought it was Barnaby, until I read some of the other entries.) Guess I’m not much of a vampire aficionado. But I do love beads!

    • November 14, 2011

My favorite vampire is most definitely Ian Somerhalder as Damon from Vampire Diaries. Just the perfect description of a vampire struggling with his humanity and his beastly nature. Best vampire for sure…second would be Brad Pitt as Louie.

    • November 14, 2011

David Selby/Quentin Collins from “Dark Shadows.” Not the vampire but a show about a vampire. When I was a child it was Barnaby Collins. I loved that show. I wish there were re-runs. I doubt a modern version would ever be as good…although I would check it out.

    • Cathy
    • November 15, 2011

I would definitely love a Date with any of Anita Blake’s vampires!!! they are all very very sexy. Or for a more cerebral experience I would go out with The Comte St. Germain. He’s dark, mysterious, and very intriguing.
And would love to receive the contest prize.

    • November 15, 2011

OK – call me crazy, but I think my favorite “wampire” was Leslie Nielsen in the comedy version of Dracula – I think it was “Dead and Loving It” ?? He was so funny! Bela Legousi was the classic vampire and of course Edward is very dreamy, but Mr. Nielsen is my favorite!

  4. A young Gary Oldman in 1992’s Dracula

    • Angela C.
    • November 15, 2011

    • November 16, 2011

so many vamps… so little time. I think the most romantic vampire was the one played by Gary Oldman in Bram Stokers. But the one I would want to make my toes curl would be Eric from True Blood.

    • Jennifer House
    • November 16, 2011

Definately, if given the choice, I would choose Dracula from the movie “Dracula 2000.” His passion drips as easily from his lips as blood does from his fangs! If given a dream date, he would be mine!!

    • lisa g
    • November 16, 2011

    • November 16, 2011

Angel. A bad boy who’s an angel.

  6. I would definitely love a date with Jean-Claude from the Laurell K. Hamilton books. Mesmerizing blue eyes, long raven hair and a French accent…what could be more romantic?

  7. Hard to narrow it down.Through the years it had been the various Dracula’s, Anne Rice vampires and such, but I’d have to say the Master Vampire Jean-Claude, from Laurell K Hamilton’s books. He has a special place in my heart.
