Did you miss out on taking a trip to the 2012 Gem and Mineral Show in Tucson this year? Don’t worry! You may still get your hands on some of the coolest beads, findings and other goodies available at one of the world’s biggest shows. Follow the Artbeads crew on our Facebook event page and the blog as they discover fun new items by browsing through thousands of tables, booths, rooms, nooks and crannies, cherry picking a few items to place into a goody jar as they go. Over one crazy, exhausting and exhilarating week, you will see the jar gradually fill with an eclectic mix of beads and other fun stuff.

Now that we’re back, take a look at the full jar above and guess at the number of items we’ve stuffed into the jar. If your guess comes closest to the actual number, you win the jar! Guess it exactly and you will also win a $100 Artbeads.com gift certificate! You can see the progress of the growing jar below, but be sure to look above for the final fill.

Hi, I have no idea how mant beads are in the jar. I used to do an Earth Science lab on permeability where we had tubes filled with the same size beads (s, m, lg) and one tube with a mixture od all three sizes. The kids poured water through the beada and timed how fast the water went thrugh each. One day one of the kids knocked over their mixed tube (minus H2O luckily) and we were finding those beads for months! I guesssed by birthday year! I was born the day sfter Christmas which as a kid had to feel like the most unlucky day on which to be born. I got Merry Christmas/Happt Birthday presents a lot. I always felt cheated that my 6 siblings had birthday parties, but I never did. I’m going to make my birthday a LUCKY number for once! I guess there are 1226 beads in the jar!

OOPS! I just read my post and ouch…look at akk of those typos! I realized I made a mistake in my comment. I was going to use the year I was born, but changed to to the date I arrived in the world because I want it to be associated with something good! Thanks again. I was a great science teacher, but never a very good typist! LOL!
