The Journey of a Base Metal Bezel

At Artbeads, we believe that the journey of a bead isn’t complete until it’s wrapped up in purple tissue paper, delivered to a doorstep and strung onto a design. Often our customers don’t know how their piece came into being, so when we get the chance to explain the process it makes that particular component more exciting! Today we’ll show you the step-by-step process of a base metal bezel pendant, from concept to finishing cast.

First, the desired shape is stamped out of a plain sheet. Then, the shape is soldered by hand to another blank sheet to give it the bezel look.

Next, the loop is soldered by hand onto the top for the stringing hole. It is then sanded, polished and brightened all by hand before receiving its colored finish.

The last step is to apply the desired color overlay. In this case, the pendant was given a silver finish.

Now that you’ve learned how our collage pendants are made, explore our entire collection and pick out your favorite and choose the ending to its journey.

Just wondering if you had thought about leaving the heart bezel at the stage before you cut the heart out and attaching a brooch pin then? I like the shape surrounded by the metal and the bezel shape could be anything even abstract. I would love to be able to fill the interior of the shape with mixed fibres and embroidery etc and have it as a brooch. What size would it be approx. with the metal surround? I like quite chunky jewelry and ‘am thinking 2.5 inches square finished.
    Regards,
    Jenny
