Here at Artbeads, we always love seeing how our customers use beads in new and unique ways. Colette recently contacted us to share some of her award-winning quilts. Her quilts are full of beautiful patterns, amazing details, and even beads! Take a look at one of her latest creations, the Fleur de Glace quilt.
This quilt is absolutely magnificent and it’s full of fun beads. Fleur de Glace means “Ice Flower” in French, and it’s easy to see why this quilt bears that name. Floral elements combine amazingly with icy touches.
The edges are scalloped with seed beads and more beads create beautiful touches throughout the quilt. Colette was kind enough to share some pictures of the beaded details you’ll find in her quilt.
This beaded snowflake pattern combines round seed beads and bugle beads in a frosty look that perfectly complements the thread pattern and fabric colors.
This detail features seed beads, crystal bicones and even a Rivoli at the center. I’m sure these elements just sparkle beautifully in real life.
Here’s another beaded snowflake detail from the quilt. This one features seed beads, bicones, and bugle beads.
It’s amazing how Colette uses beads to perfectly complement the patterns in her quilt. These beads fill up the space in the center of the purple fabric wonderfully and they also create fun geometric patterns.
This beaded snowflake features fun iridescent colors, for a whimsical take.
Colette’s quilts have won awards in Canada and the US and it’s easy to see why. The detail, precision, and care that goes into her pieces are evident. Her Fleur de Glace quilt is currently a semi finalist in the American Quilters Society QuiltWeek for Fall in Paducah, Kentucky. We’re honored to be a small part of her quilting story!
We loved getting to know more about Colette’s work and are so glad she shared her work with us. If you use beads in unexpected ways, we’d love to hear about it in the comments below, or feel free to share pictures with us on our Facebook page. It’s always inspiring to see how our beads are being used.
