Nunn Design 2018 Winter Collection and a Giveaway!

Nunn Design 2018 Winter Collection

We’re still in the middle of winter time, which means the cold weather is hanging around and everyone is staying in to keep warm. In Scandinavian culture, now is the perfect time to embrace the concept of hygge, which focuses on simple pleasures and all things cozy. Making jewelry is a great way to get in the spirit of this concept. Set up your bead mat next to your fireplace, pour some hot cocoa into your favorite mug, curl up in a blanket, and get inspired to make something stylish! Nunn Design just introduced a new collection for the 2018 Winter season and it’s full of beautiful components to get your creativity started during the cozy season. Let’s take a look and make sure to read to the end to learn how you could win some of the pieces from the collection.

Nunn Design 2018 Winter Collection

This new collection has that wonderful handmade, artisan look people crave. These pieces will give an organic touch to any design thanks to the texture, detail, and unique styling found in each component. Becky Nunn of Nunn Design created many of the models for this collection herself and they have a hand-forged look by design. Included in the collection are drop charms, hammered moon and cross charms, organic hoops, flat tags, ear wires, wire frames, bezels, jump rings, bails, and even some new findings. Becky Nunn and her team have created some beautiful jewelry designs to get you inspired to start using this collection in your projects.

Nunn Design Square Wire Rings

Let’s start off with new jump rings. Jump rings are a staple in jewelry designs and Nunn Design offers some really unique options with this collection. You’ll find textured triangles and squares, along with traditional round jump rings with the added flair of a twisted texture. Large jump rings made from square wire are also new and we love the bold look they provide. You can see them linked together to create a bracelet in the picture above. They also make great focal points, because you can add dangles to them. Check out that new open triangle pendant and faceted drop on the end of the bracelet, too. So cute!

Nunn Design

These designs incorporate the new organic flat tags and hoops. Like the square wire rings, they make wonderful connection points. You can also dangle them like charms on their own. The organic flat tags feature an irregular surface for a handmade vibe. As these pieces show, they look great as a stand-alone piece, embellished with crystals, or layered with other charms. You can also try metal stamping on the surface for a personalized look. Can you spot the new hinged bail in one of the designs above? It’s hanging from the organic hoop on the far left. It’s used as the base for a long drop made from epoxy clay. We’re also loving how the new pear-shaped bezel is used in this piece – filled with epoxy clay and embellished with ball chain. As Becky Nunn intended, these new items look great with other Nunn Design components, like the arrowhead open pendant and the short and long paddles featured here (and if you haven’t learned how to embed organics into resin yet, make sure to check out our video with Becky Nunn on the subject).

Nunn Design

The 2018 Winter Collection also includes a new pointed oval wire frame shape. We love the wire frames (check out our ice cream necklace and wire-wrapped pendant to see how our designers have used them) and this new shape is a great addition. The little point at the bottom is great for dangling charms and the frame also provides some unique wire wrapping opportunities. You can also get creative with resin and fill the frame shape. We have a video for how to make wire frame pendants with resin here.

Nunn Design 2018 Winter Collection

This collection looks great with leather, too. The organic, handmade styles are perfect for matching with rich leather colors and surfaces. Don’t be afraid to mix the components with a little color, either. The designs here feature open frame pendants filled with colorized resin for a fun pop. We love the blue moon and star pendants on the new bold oval hoop earwires. Also take note of the creative use of the new triangle pendant used as a toggle in the brown leather design.

Nunn Design Jewelry

For wonderful dangles in all kinds of designs, make sure to check out the new cross charm, organic drops, and the square and pear bezels. The cross charm features a lovely hammered texture, once again providing artisan style. We love how the cross is layered with plenty of textured jump rings and a faceted drop in the necklace above. The organic drops are so simple yet effective in designs. They come in large and small sizes and look great alone, like in the necklace at the center of this photo, or jumbled with other dangles. Square and pear bezels are made to fit 12mm cushion stones and 14mm pear stones respectively, but you can also use them with resin and epoxy clay.

There are even more great components in this collection (like ball end head pins and more ear wire shapes), so make sure to see everything on our website. We love this collection so much, we want to give some pieces away!

Nunn Design Giveaway

You could win everything in the photo above. To enter, leave a comment on this blog post telling us about your favorites from the collection and how you would use them. We’ll pick a winner on Friday, January 26th. UPDATE: This contest is now closed. Congratulations to Lindy on winning these beautiful pieces!

We hope these new Nunn Design beauties have you inspired to make something special as we wait out these last winter months with a cozy farewell. Stay warm!

I am excited about wire wrapping the open frames w/my own beaded designs & embellishing w/the various drops & cushion stones. In addition, I have been on the hunt for unique jump rings to incorporate in to my pieces that not only provide function but make a statement & now I have found them. Thank you!

I like the oval wire frames. I would combine leather with rough and glossy wood beads that have different dark and light shades. I might wrap a bit of copper wire and one or two crystals or beads in colors that represent air, water and fire around the top to give it an elemental feel.

I would use the small charms and jump rings dangled from the earwires. Maybe brick stitch copper or gold seeds on the antique silver. Wire wrap some crystal briolettes to dangle from the copper ears. Love the moon.
