As you can see, we love working with patina items in our jewelry. The amazing colors are a great way to kick-start your creativity when it comes to choosing matching beads. Cheri used the beauty of turquoise patina as the start of her fabulous Heron’s Landing necklace.
This amazing design features Dakota Stones and Czech glass beads that perfectly match the colors in the patina pendants. Even the thread that Cheri used to crochet the bead strands is the perfect match to the brassy gold tones peeking through the turquoise. This is one of our favorite jewelry designs from the episode and we’re so happy to provide free instructions (including step-by-step photos) in our Design Studio. Find it here.
One of Cynthia’s favorite things to do with patina items is layer them together with glue. She layered patina wings with other brass embellishments in this Filigree Flight necklace. Cynthia likes to use 5-minute epoxy adhesive for this and she always advises to use plenty, as it helps the lightweight components hold together. You can learn how to use this glue for layering patina embellishments in the video below. Once you’ve used the epoxy adhesive for this technique, you’ll be set for using it in all kinds of projects.
Now that you’re inspired to start working with patina items in your jewelry, we have a giveaway just for you! You could win your own brass patina items, including pendants, a clasp, head pins, and jump rings, as well as matching gemstone beads. We’re even adding in some 5-minute epoxy adhesive so you can try the glue out for yourself.
