Artbeads.com in the News!

On 3/29/09 Artbeads.com was mentioned in the Tacoma Tribune newspaper. In an article titled: “Not all economic news in Pierce County is bad”, the reporter talks about how some Pierce County companies are still growing and hiring, despite the downturn in the economy. Artbeads.com made the radar this year, since we now have over 100 full-time workers employed at the company. Here is an excerpt from that article: The Company offers online sales of beads and jewelry-making supplies, said Carey Kimura, vice president of marketing and communications. It was founded in 2000 and is working on its eighth consecutive year of growth, he said. “In these tough economic times, the growth has been smaller than in past years, but we have growth still,” Kimura said. On 4/10/09 the Tacoma News Tribune sent a reporter and a photographer to our facility to follow up and learn more about the company. The reporter interviewed Owners and CEO and President, Devin and Cynthia Kimura with a Q&A. The article was published both in print and online on 4/13/09 and is titled “Key Peninsula couple leads in beads online.” Here is an excerpt:

How is Artbeads.com evolving?

Cynthia: We’re expanding our lines of crafting materials, attracting crafters into beading.

Devin: We focus on the customer experience. It’s not just answering phone calls. We wrap (nearly) every order in purple paper, like a gift. We want our customers to feel good about buying from us. What can we do to make our customers love us? They’ve had a hard day. They open a package. It’s a gift.
