October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Since 1985, organizations have used the month of October to encourage education about breast cancer and raise support for research that will provide a cure. Each year, people around the world show their support by wearing the color pink and participating in activities ranging from races to fundraising dinners. We encourage you to join in the activities this year and try wearing a little pink in October, whether it’s a t-shirt, a cap or something that you’ve created using items from our Breast Cancer Awareness page. Whether you are in this fight yourself or want to show support for others who are, this section is for you. You’ll find pink ribbons and beads, along with jewelry supplies offering words of encouragement. Learn how to make a braest cancer awareness necklace like our Love, Hope and Luck necklace featured in the picture above by visiting our Learning Center.

I am a 2 time survivor,in 1990 and again in 2004.I really like the necklace you pictured. I am a beader, and I always wear pink in october.I just posted an album on my FB page called All things Pink .Thank you for promoting breast cancer awareness. I also want to remind women to get their mammograms. It saved my life in 2004. I am now cancer free. I am living proof that the fight against breast cancer has been working. But I will continue to share my story until there are no more women diagnosed with breast cancer.

Thank you for sharing your story, Karen. It’s great to know how you’ve turned your experience into something positive that you can offer to others.

  2. Breast cancer awareness month is a special month for me, as I am lucky enough to say that my mom is a survivor. For the month of October, I will be donating 50% of the sales of my Pink Coral Earrings on my website to the Susan G. Komen foundation. I’d love for your readers to check out my site and help support such a great cause. I’d also love to see what other beaders are doing for BCA month! Thank you,
    Peggy Li
